Rambo remains close to home and will stay with her alma mater as she will transition from student-athlete to coach this coming season. Rambo spent the entire four years of her playing career in Durango, scoring 913 points, grabbing 326 rebounds, dishing out 43 assists, sending back 95 blocks, collecting 62 steals, while shooting 57 percent from the field. She played in 101 games, starting 43. Rambo's best season came during the 2014-15 campaign in which she tallied 378 points (14.0 per game), 176 rebounds (6.5 per game), while starting 27 games and averaging 21 minutes per contest. That year she earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) First Team honors. Some of her career-high marks include scoring 27 points against Chadron State, 13 rebounds (twice), four steals (twice), and six blocked shots against Regis.
"I'm very excited and grateful for the opportunity to not only coach at Fort Lewis, but to do so with such outstanding people as Coach Flores and Coach Griego, and to lead this group of girls who all show such great potential," Rambo said.
The Pagosa Springs native was a regular on the RMAC All-Academic Team, landing on the list every year from her redshirt freshman season. During her high school career, Rambo was a Salutatorian and three-year starter and center and power forward, while earning four letters as a Pirate. She was chosen as Pagosa's Senior Female Athlete of the Year, Colorado Ms. 3A Basketball in 2011, MVP of the Colorado All-Star Game, two-time first team All-State, two-time Intermountain League Player of the Year, three-time first team all-conference, two-time 3A Great Eight All-Tournament Team and made the honor roll all eight semesters.
"One of the most important things for me with bringing Mary on board is she played for me and already knows the team philosophy and expectations of the program. That will be a big benefit not only for me, but for the team as well," Flores added.
