Men's soccer explodes for nine goals in 9-0 rout of Colorado Christian

Kling nets first collegiate hat trick for Skyhawks

Box Score

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Fabian Kling scored three goals as Fort Lewis College (10-5-1 overall, 9-2-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) routed Colorado Christian University (1-14-0, 1-10-0) today at the CCU Soccer Field.

Kling provided all the offense the Skyhawks would need when he beat CCU goalkeeper Russ Dornisch with a penalty kick just 12:25 into the game to give FLC a 1-0 lead.

His goals at 74:02 and 85:39 capped his first collegiate hat trick — a rare treat for an anchor of FLC's defense the past three years. Kling now leads the Skyhawks with eight goals in 2010.

Two Fort Lewis players recorded their first-ever collegiate goals: Casey Dean, who scored at 50:34, and R.J. Parke, who netted a penalty kick at 61:26. Parke also made his first collegiate start in the win.

Other Skyhawks who scored included Joey Madigan (4), Kyle Wood (2), Jamie Cunningham (3) and Jordan Alexander (4). Madigan and Wood also added a pair of assists apiece. Alexander and Thomas Hoang were also credited with helpers.

FLC's Ryan Wirth stopped four shots to record the first complete-game shutout of his college career.

Russ Dornisch made 12 saves for the Cougars.

Fort Lewis outshot CCU 31-6, 21-4 in shots on goal.

The Skyhawks travel to CSU-Pueblo (7-8-0, 6-5-0) at noon on Sunday, before concluding the regular season against Adams State (1-13-0, 1-10-0) at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 31 at Dirks Field.
