MANCHESTER, N.H. — Freshman Justine Clarke scored seven goals and assisted on another as Southern New Hampshire (2-1 overall) defeated Fort Lewis (0-3) 23-7 today at Larkin Field.

Ellie Morin scored two goals in the first 10 minutes as the Penmen jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Freshman Abby Kvidera scored her first of three goals to trim the lead to 2-1 with 20:02 left in the first half. Southern New Hampshire then reeled off eight straight to take a 10-1 lead.

Fort Lewis trailed 18-2 before matching Southern New Hampshire with five goals each in the last 17:30.

“We didn't play Fort Lewis lacrosse until about 20 minutes left in the second half,” said first-year FLC head coach Kelsey MacDonald. “Once we picked it up, we did well. We just couldn't play in the first 40 minutes of the game.”

Kvidera led the Skyhawks with three goals, while Jessica Norby added two goals and four assists.

The Penmen outshot FLC 52-19.

Genna Waugh and Shelby Wichkoski each played 30 minutes in net, with each goalie making 10 saves.

“It was just a tough game,” said MacDonald, who described the Penmen as well-coached, aggressive, big and tall. “Southern is a very strong team.”

Fort Lewis concludes its six-day, four-game New England road trip at 3:30 p.m. (EST) tomorrow at American International College in Springfield, Mass.
