Skyhawks Hand Texas A&M-International a 3-0 Loss

Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – Three different Fort Lewis College men's soccer players scored their first goals of the season Monday afternoon in a 3-0 win over Texas A&M-International at Dirks Field.  The win improves Fort Lewis to 3-0-1 as they head into conference play.
 
Playing in his first game of the season, Artur Piperkov (Bremen, Germany/SZ Gierzstraphe) gave Fort Lewis College a 1-0 lead with five minutes left in the in the first half.  Maik Brandt (Stadthagen, Germany/Fachoberschule Stadthagen) served a ball to the center that Piperkov played over the goalies head.
 
In the 62nd minute, Alberto Capdepon (Almoradi, Spain/I.E.S. Vicent Andres Estrelles) converted a penalty kick for his first goal of the year.  Playing off a corner kick, Brandt solidified the shutout from Johannes Sander's (Erwite, Germany/Gymnasium Schlose Overhagen) assist.
 
Ryan Schaul (Frisco, Texas/Wakeland) recorded his first shutout of the season after making five saves in goal.  The Skyhawks held a 16-5 advantage in shots.
 
Fort Lewis will open the conference season at home on Wednesday against Adams State.  Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m.
