Men’s Basketball Notches 78-72 Win over the Eagles

Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – Four Fort Lewis College men's basketball players scored in double figures Friday night to post a 78-72 win over Chadron State College at Whalen Gymnasium. 
 
Nick Tomsick led all scorers with 21 points after sinking 3-of-7 field goals.  Fourteen of his points came from the free throw link as he made 14-of-17 free throws.  Alex Herrera chipped in 19 points and blocked a career high nine shots.  He netted 6-of-12 field goals and 7-of-11 free throws while pulling down eight rebounds.
 
Kody Salcido made 5-of-6 field goals and 3-of-5 free throws for 13 points to go with his eight rebounds.  Will Morse added a career high 11 points after scoring 4-of-6 field goals.  Nine of his points came from long range where he netted 3-of-5 three-point field goals.
 
The Skyhawks blocked 10 shots and forced the Eagles to shoot 34.8 percent from the floor (24-of-69).  FLC netted 22-of-43 field goals (51.2 percent) and 29-of-40 free throws for 72.5 percent.
 
Chadron State (5-6, 2-5 RMAC) was led by David Downey with 19 points and Christopher Smith's 16 points and eight rebounds.
 
Fort Lewis improves to 7-3 overall and 4-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  The Skyhawks will play host to Black Hills State University Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
