Westminster Defeats Men’s Basketball in Exhibition Game, 86-74

SALT LAKE CITY – November 8, 2014 – Westminster College shot 54 percent from the floor (27-50) including netting 7-of-15 from long range and making 25-of-28 free throws to upend the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team Saturday night in exhibition action, 86-74.
 
Alex Herrera tied for game high honors with 28 points.  The senior center made 10-of-15 from the floor, 1-of-2 from behind the arc and 7-of-9 free throws.  He added nine rebounds and blocked three shots.
 
Rasmus Bach netted 12 points and dished out three assists.  He made 4-of-6 from the floor including both three-point field goal attempts and both free throw attempts.
 
Kody Salcido notched nine points after making 4-of-6 field goals and he blocked one shot.
 
Despite trailing by 18 points with 6:03 left in the first half, the Skyhawks came back to only trail by three at halftime, 45-42.
 
As a team, the Skyhawk made 28-of-58 field goals (48.3 percent), 5-of-21 three-point field goals (23.8 percent) and 13-of-18 free throws (72.2 percent).
 
The Skyhawks outscored the Griffins in the paint, 44-32, on second chance points, 16-7, and on fast break points, 8-2.  Fort Lewis led the Griffins for a total of six minutes in the game. 
 
Fort Lewis will play its third straight exhibition game Monday night at Colorado State University.  Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
