DURANGO, Colo. – December 13, 2014 – Junior guard
Cade Kloster scored a career high 20 points Saturday afternoon to lead the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team to an 87-73 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win over Adams State University at Whalen Gymnasium.
The win marked the Skyhawks second straight win as they move to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the RMAC. The Grizzlies have now lost three straight games as the fall to 3-3 on the year and 0-3 in league games.
The Skyhawks were solid from three-point range, making 15-of-25 three-pointers for 60 percent.
All six of Kloster's made field goals came from long range as he netted 6-of-9 from behind the arc to go with his 2-of-3 made free throws. He also dished out three assists and pulled down four rebounds.
Jared Smith made 7-of-10 field goals and 5-of-6 from downtown for 19 points. Redshirt-freshman
Rasmus Bach netted 4-of-5 field goals (3-of-4 from three-point range) and all six free throw attempts for 17 points. Twelve of
Alex Herrera's 16 points came from the charity stripe. Herrera made two field goals and 12-of-16 free throws.
Junior transfer
Austin Haldorson tallied a career high seven rebounds and dished out a career high and game high five assists.
Will Morse added four assists, four points and a steal.
The Skyhawks made 52.2 percent from the floor (24-of-46) and 24-of-30 free throws. FLC led by as many as 19 points and had the lead for all but 10 minutes of the game.
Adams State was led by Shakir Smith's 17 points.
Fort Lewis will play at home again on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against Colorado Mesa University. They will play host to Western State Colorado University the following day at 5 p.m.
