Box Score DALLAS – Sept. 11, 2014 – The Fort Lewis College women's soccer team suffered their first setback of the season Thursday afternoon against Angelo State University. The Skyhawks, playing in a neutral site match against the Rambelle's in Dallas, were held scoreless through 90 minutes, 4-0.
The loss moves the Skyhawks to 1-1-0 overall. ASU remains undefeated at 3-0-0.
"We had a slow start in the first half," said Fort Lewis College head women's soccer coach
Jimmy Hall." We came out well in the second half and answered the energy and possessed the ball better. Unfortunately we gave up a penalty kick and made it difficult for ourselves the rest of the game."
Sierra Anderson notched the game-winning goal at 9:25 against the Skyhawks. Kathleen Keoughan added another goal off a free kick from 30 yards out to put FLC down 2-0 at halftime. The Rambelle's third goal of the game came from a penalty kick at 57:29 before Brianne Brown added the fourth goal of the game with two minutes left in regulation.
Fort Lewis took nine shots in the game compared to ASU's 11. Goalkeeper
Caitlyn Espinosa stopped one of Angelo State's five shots on goal. All three of the Skyhawks on-target shots were saved by Shantel Wittke.
Haleigh Macomb led the Skyhawks with two shots (one on goal).
The Skyhawks will play host institution Dallas Baptist University Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. (MT).
