Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – September 6, 2014 – The Fort Lewis College women's soccer team played 110 minutes of scoreless action against Midwestern State University Saturday afternoon at Dirks Field. The tie marks the Skyhawks regular season record at 1-0-1 while MSU moves to 0-0-2.
The game featured a matchup of the Skyhawks head coach
Jimmy Hall and former Skyhawks head coach Damian Clarke who held the head coach position at FLC for the past seven years. Hall, who served as Clarke's assistant the past three years, earned his first career coaching win on Thursday against Texas Woman's University.
Freshman
Kodie Johnson made her first start in goal for the Skyhawks and made three saves to earn her first career shutout. The Skyhawks defense held MSU to 13 shots, including only one in two overtime periods. FLC's offense dominated in the second half, recording 21 of their 28 shots between the second half and both overtime periods. Twelve of the Skyhawks shots landed on goal.
Alicia Sanchez came off the bench to lead both teams with five shots. All four of
Brooke Milliet's shots landed on goal.
Fort Lewis will travel to Dallas, Texas for their second weekend of non-conference play. The Skyhawks will play a neutral site game against Angelo State on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. (MT), followed by a match against Dallas Baptist at 1:30 p.m. (MT) on Saturday.
