About the Skyhawks
One week after falling to No. 17 MSU Denver on the road, the Skyhawks bounced back to upset ninth-ranked Colorado School of Mines Saturday night, 83-77.
 
The Skyhawks enter Saturday's game at Adams State on a two-game winning streak and have won eight of their last nine games.
 
The first time the Skyhawks and Grizzlies met this season was Dec. 13 at Whalen Gymnasium with the Skyhawks earning an 87-73 win.
 
Fort Lewis has three players ranked in the top 30 in the league in scoring: Alex Herrera (third, 23.8 ppg), Cade Kloster (23rd, 12.6), and Rasmus Bach (29th, 11.3).
 
Fort Lewis has used the same four starters in all 19 games this season: Alex Herrera, Rasmus Bach, Cade Kloster, and Jared Smith.   Junior transfer Austin Haldroson recorded his first two starts of the season this past weekend against Colorado Christian and #9 Colorado Mines.
 
Rasmus Bach scored a career high 19 points Friday night against Colorado Christian.  Austin Haldorson blocked a career high and team high three shots Saturday against No. 9 Colorado Mines.
 
As a team the Skyhawks are shooting a solid 37.4 percent from the three-point line. Morse is shooting 47.5 percent from the three-point line, good for fourth in the RMAC, while his teammates Cade Kloster is shooting the three ball at 40.7 percent and Jared Smith at a 40.0 percent clip.
 
The Skyhawks are out-scoring their opponents by 6.8 points per game (sixth in the RMAC), and out-rebounding them by 4.1 rebounds per game (fourth in the RMAC).
 
Center Alex Herrera is third in the RMAC for scoring, averaging 23.8 points per game. He also leads the RMAC in rebounding, averaging 10.7 per game. Herrera leads the league in blocked shots (70), and is the only player in the RMAC to average a double-double.
 
Herrera ranks in the top 10 in NCAA Division II in free throw attempts (first, 239), free throws made (first, 163) total blocks (first, 70), blocked shots per game (3.68), double-doubles (second, 13), defensive rebounds per game (eighth, 8.1), total rebounds (seventh, 204), total points (second, 453), and rebounds per game (ninth, 10.7).
   
About the Grizzlies
Adams State is second in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in scoring offense averaging 85.9 points per game. The Grizzlies are fourth in the conference for scoring margin, besting their opponents by an average of 11.3 points per game. Adams State is second in the RMAC in field goal percentage shooting 51.9 percent from the court. The Grizzlies are also first in rebounding offense pulling in 27.9 offensive boards per game and second in rebounding margin pulling in 6.2 more rebounds than their opponents. Adams State ranks first in the RMAC for steals (10.4 per game) and blocked shots (5.1 per game).
 
The Grizzlies are lead by Shakir Smith who averages 15.7 points per game and Juwan Buchanan who averages 15.1 points per game. Michael Middlebrooks is Adams State leading rebounder pulling in 6.1 boards per game. Middlebrooks and Mike Hemsley are first and second respectively in the RMAC for field goal percentage. Travante Williams is third in the conference for steals averaging 1.8 per game. Middlebrooks is second in the RMAC for blocked shots with 47 total shots blocked.
 
The Series vs. Adams State
Fort Lewis is 64-49 all-time against Adams State.  Both teams have won 23 games apiece when playing at ASU.  Fort Lewis has won three of the last four games against the Grizzlies.
