Bob Pietrack made his debut with a statement Saturday night, leading his team to a 77-69 exhibition win in overtime against Division I University of Wyoming in front of 7,677 fans.
The evening started with the Cowboys raising their 2014-15 Mountain West Conference championship banner in Arena-Auditorium before tipoff.
Senior
Cade Kloster led both teams with 21 points. Kloster made 7 of 13 field goals and 6 of 12 from downtown.
Rasmus Bach added 14 points on 5 of 11 field goals.
Joshua Blaylock suited up for the Skyhawks for the first time in his career to record 10 points and four assists.
Kofi Josephs came off the bench to add 10 points.
FLC trailed by one at halftime, 29-28 but came back to outscore Wyoming 37-36 in the second half and send the game to overtime, where they dominated UW, 12-4.
Fort Lewis outrebounded Wyoming by eight, 77-69.
Jared Smith pulled down a team high 10 boards to go with his five points.
The Skyhawks finished the game shooting 40 percent from the floor (24 of 60), 32.4 percent from long range (12 of 37) and 68 percent from the charity stripe (17 of 25).
FLC will open the regular season at home Nov. 13-14 at home against West Texas A&M University and Eastern New Mexico University.
