Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Sarah Meier, Assistant Athletic Director

Men’s Basketball Stopped by Grizzlies, 77-69

ALAMOSA, Colo. – January 31, 2015 – Adams State University out-rebounded the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team by six (41-35), including 15-10 on the offensive glass to stop the Skyhawks Saturday night at Plachy Hall in Alamosa, Colo., 77-69.  The loss moves the Skyhawks to 15-5 overall and 10-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

"We picked a bad night to have a poor shooting performance," said Fort Lewis College associate head coach Bob Pietrack.  "Credit to Adams State; they played really well tonight.  Our transition defense was the story of the game. We just didn't transition defense well enough to win a big game on the road."

Redshirt-freshman Rasmus Bach scored a career high 20 points.  He was perfect in the first half after making all four field goal attempts and all four free throw attempts (1-for-1 three-point field goals).  He finished the game netting 7-of-12 field goals and 5-of-6 free throws.  Bach added one assist, two rebounds and a steal before fouling out.

Alex Herrera tied for game high honors with 22 points.  He pulled down a career high 19 rebounds, 14 of which came on the defensive end of the court.  He also dished out an assist and blocked four shots.

Cade Kloster tallied 12 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Fort Lewis made 23-of-60 field goals (38.3 percent) and 5-of-33 three-point field goals for a season low 15.2 percent.

The Skyhawks will travel to Western New Mexico University and New Mexico Highlands University next Friday and Saturday.
