Tomsick Signs Professional Contract with BBA Herford

DURANGO, Colo. – February 13, 2015 – Former Fort Lewis College men's basketball standout Nick Tomsick (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral HS) has signed a professional basketball contract with BBG Herford in the Regonalliga league.  Tomsick played for the Skyhawks from 2012-2014.

The BBG Herford plays in a 12-team league with 23 regular season games.  In his first game as a professional player, Tomsick started at point guard and contributed 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.

"I am very thankful of the opportunity that playing my college basketball at Fort Lewis has provided me, to start my professional career in Germany for BBG Herford", said Tomsick.  "As a kid I've always had a dream to be able to get paid to play the game I love, and I am thankful Fort Lewis College has allowed me to be in the position to pursue this dream. Signing my first professional contract and getting settled into Germany has been an experience of a lifetime. I'm also very grateful to have made so many great relationships during my time in Durango, Colorado. I'd like to give a special thanks to the support my parents have given me to pursue my dreams as a child and their drive to see me succeed. Also to associate head coach Bob Pietrack who mentored me through the recruiting process in junior college at North Platte, while attending Fort Lewis College, and consistently after I graduated with basketball along with life. He's a special person in my life and I wouldn't have been as successful if I didn't have him in my corner."

Tomsick left his mark on the Skyhawks program in only two years with the program.  He played in 57 games for the Skyhawks and started every game.  He averaged 17.3 points per game and dished out 100 assists.  In his two year career, he made 44.2 percent from the floor and 41.1 percent from long range.

His 984 career points rank him 24th all-time on the Fort Lewis College career scoring list, and it is the third most points scored by a member of the men's basketball program in a two-year career.  He ranks 16th all-time in made free throws with 232, and his 86.7 free throw shooting mark in 2012-13 was the third best season mark in program history.

Before graduating from Fort Lewis, Tomsick was named All-RMAC first team in 2013-14, and All-RMAC second team in 2012-13.  As a senior, he was named the FLC Don Whalen Outstanding Senior Male Athlete of the Year.  Tomsick played two years at North Platte Community College before transferring to Fort Lewis.

Tomsick graduated from Fort Lewis College in Business Administration in 2014.
