DURANGO, Colo. – February 21, 2015 – Senior center
Alex Herrera recorded his 20
th double-double of the season Saturday night to lead the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team to a 70-52 home win over Regis University.
With the win, the Skyhawks improve to 19-7 overall and 14-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Herrera tallied 25 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and one steal. Fifteen of his 25 points came from the charity stripe where he made all but four attempts.
Cade Kloster added 12 points after making 3-of-8 field goals, all four free throw attempts and 2-of-5 three point field goals.
Jared Smith was a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor. All three of his three-point field goals came from behind the arc.
The Skyhawks led for nearly 37 minutes. Fort Lewis netted 19-of-51 field goals (37.3 percent) and 23-of-27 free throws for 85.2 percent. FLC attempted 20 more free throws than Regis.
Fort Lewis made 18 second chance points to outscore RU by 10.
The Skyhawks gave special recognition to the three seniors in the program – Herrera,
Lucas Archuleta, and
Kevin Flohr.
FLC will play their final regular season games Friday and Saturday at Western State Colorado University and Colorado Mesa University.
