ALAMOSA, Colo. – March 28, 2015 – Four runs plated in the fourth and sixth innings led to a 10-5 win by the Fort Lewis College softball team at Adams State University Saturday afternoon in Alamosa, Colo.  The Skyhawks were shutout in game two, 3-0.
"These were competitive games today," said head coach 
Kira Zeiter.  " In game one, we came up with the clutch hits to seal the game, but the hits just didn't come in game two.  Tomorrow we plan to focus on swinging at our pitch and staying level through the zone." 
Fort Lewis tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the third inning.  
Denae Fisher scored the first run for the Skyhawks after reaching base on a triple down the right field line.  She took advantage of a throwing error to score the first run.  
Kaitlyn Bending added the Skyhawks second run when she scored on another scoring error by the Grizzlies. 
ASU took the lead again in the bottom of the third after scoring one run, 3-2. 
In the top of the fourth, 
Nikki Klepfer hit a single to right center to score 
Adriana Rosthenhausler and 
Mandy Owens.  Bending and Klepfer each added a run in the fourth after ASU committed their fourth error of the game. 
Leading 6-4 in the sixth inning, 
Kiley Raica hit a double up the middle that scored 
Myndee Thompson and Bending.  
Tristen Gilbert and Owens drew back-to-back walks to load the bases and score Raica.  Klepfer hit in the fourth run of the inning after notching a sacrifice fly to center field to score 
Jeovanna Rios. 
ASU added one run in the sixth but FLC recorded the 10-5 win. 
Fort Lewis charted 10 runs on 10 hits.  Raica and Bending each recorded two hits.  Klepfer drove in three runs and Raica added two while Bending crossed home plate three times. 
Victoria Johnson earned her seventh win in the circle after pitching 6.1 innings.  She allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits and struck out two batters. 
In game two, the Skyhawks were held scoreless on seven hits and stranded seven runners on base. 
Raica pitched all six innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on five hits and fanning six batters.  
Fort Lewis (12-17, 10-8 RMAC) will face off against Adams State (11-15, 9-11) Sunday morning with doubleheader action beginning at 11 a.m.
