DURANGO, Colo. – January 23, 2016 – A thrilling 83-79 home win by the No. 21 Fort Lewis College men's basketball team over New Mexico Highlands University Saturday night put the Skyhawks in a tie with the Cowboys for first place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings.
The Skyhawks, who remain perfect at home this season with a 9-0 record, are tied with NMHU in the RMAC at 10-3. FLC improves to 15-3 overall while NMHU moves to 11-8.
Despite shooting a cold 43.8 percent from the charity stripe (7 of 16), the Skyhawks were blistering from the floor, making 50.8 percent in field goals (30 of 59) and 57.1 percent from long range (16 of 28).
Will Morse paced the Skyhawks with 22 points after making 7 of 12 field goals and 6 of 9 from long range.
Joshua Blaylock netted 19 points on 8 of 15 field goals and 3 of 6 three-point field goals.
Rasmus Bach came off the bench to chip in 15 points and
Jared Smith made 4 of 5 three-point field goals for 12 points. Blaylock pulled down a game high nine rebounds and dished out a game high five assists.
FLC held a 40-30 rebounding advantage over the Cowboys and out-scored their bench, 21-15.
Fort Lewis will continue their four game home stand next weekend, Jan. 29-30, when they play host to Regis and Chadron State.
