DURANGO, Colo. – January 29, 2016 – Regis University snapped the Fort Lewis College women's basketball three-game winning streak Friday night, handing the Skyhawks a 76-67 loss at home. Trailing by 24 points entering the fourth quarter, 70-46, the Skyhawks outscored RU in the final stanza, 21-6, but fell short by nine points to extend their winning streak.
With the setback, the Skyhawks move to 11-8 overall and 7-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. RU improves to 12-8 overall and 10-4 in league games.
The Rangers led for more than 39 minutes while shooting 49.1 percent from the floor (28-of-57). FLC was held to 34.8 field goal shooting percentage, hitting 23-of-66 attempts, and only 18.8 percent from long range (3-of-16).
Four Skyhawks scored in double digits with
Kate Bayes netting a team high 15 points. Bayes netted 7-of-8 from the free throw line and added five rebounds.
Dallas Dickerson came off the bench to score 13 points, nine of which were from long range.
Simone Ruedin made 5-of-6 field goals as part of her 11 points, and
Astrea Reed tallied 10 points and a team high seven rebounds.
FLC committed only eight turnovers against the Rangers, the second fewest this season, and forced the Rangers to turn the ball over 20 times.
The Skyhawks were out-rebounded by 14 boards, 46-32.
Fort Lewis will wrap up their four game homestand Saturday night when they play host to Chadron State College at 5:30 p.m.
