Bach Lifts Skyhawks to First Win of Season

CANYON, Texas – November 12, 2016 – Rasmus Bach hit one of his eight field goals with 22 seconds left in regulation to lift the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team to an 88-87 win over Eastern New Mexico University Saturday night in Canyon, Texas.  The win was the first of the season for the 15th ranked Skyhawks as they move to 1-1 on the season.

"It was a really good college basketball game," said head coach Bob Pietrack.  "ENMU shot the ball very well from three-point range.  We're thankful to get out of Texas with the win.  All of these regional wins are critically important.  We're thankful to get this win but we need to go back to the drawing board and get better defensively and in rebounding.  We'll get better in the next two weeks and get ready for the league season."

FLC trailed by as many as eight points in the first half but opened the second half outscoring the Greyhounds 31-18 in the first 10 minutes of the second stanza.

Bach finished the game making 8-of-12 field goals and 8-of-9 free throws for a team high 25 points.  He also pulled down seven caroms and dished out three assists.

Riley Farris came off the bench to chip in 17 points, three rebounds and two assists.  Farris made 5-of-7 field goals and 6-of-7 free throws.

Nine of Will Morse's points came from long range as he added 15 points and dished out a game high seven assists to go with his three rebounds and two steals.

After a cold shooting start, the Skyhawks finished the game making 47.5 percent from the floor (29-of-61) and 78.6 percent from the charity stripe (22-of-28).

FLC forced ENMU into 24 turnovers and scored 27 points off of their turnovers.  The Skyhawks bench outscored ENMU's, 27-17.

The Skyhawks will travel to Fort Collins to face CSU in an exhibition game on Wednesday at 7 p.m.  Fort Lewis will return home Nov. 18-19 to play host to Embry Riddle and Northern New Mexico.
