Men’s Basketball Rout Eagles in Home Debut, 99-67

DURANGO – November 18, 2016 – A 32-point win over Embry-Riddle University extended the Fort Lewis College men's basketball home winning streak to 20 games.  The Skyhawks opened their home season tonight in Whalen Gymnasium in the Skyhawks Classic.  They improve to 2-1 overall with a 99-67 win over the Eagles.
 
Joshua Blaylock and Daniel Hernandez led the five Skyhawks in double digit scoring with 16 points each.  Blaylock hit 6-of-9 field goals and 4-of-7 from long range.  Hernandez came off the bench and was near perfect from the floor, making all but one of his six attempts, including 3-of-4 from long range and 3-for-3 from the free throw line.
 
Riley Farris and Will Morse each contributed 14 points.  Morse led both teams with eight assists.  Farris recorded two assists, three rebounds, one blocked shot and one steal.
 
Rasmus Bach made all four of his field goal attempts and 3-of-4 free throws for 11 points to go with his game high six caroms.
 
FLC led the game for all but 20 seconds.  The Skyhawks posted a 37-28 rebounding advantage and dominated in the paint, 24-12.  Twenty-eight of the Skyhawks points came from 14 of ERU's turnovers.
 
After the first 20 minutes of action, FLC was hot from the floor, sinking 63.6 percent of their shots, including 64.7 percent from long range.  The Skyhawks finished the game sinking 58.7 percent (37-of-63) and 61.6 percent (16-of-31) from three-point range.
 
Fort Lewis will play host to Northern New Mexico College Saturday at 7:30 p.m.  Adams State University defeated NNMC in tonight's first game, 97-84.
