Second Half Surge Leads to 44-Point Win

DURANGO, Colo. – November 19, 2016 – A 49-11 run to open the second half led the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team to a 107-63 home win over Northern New Mexico College Saturday night, and the Skyhawks 21st consecutive win at home.  With tonight's win, the Skyhawks improve to 3-1 on the season and a three game winning streak.
 
FLC trailed by as many as five points in the first half to the Eagles but took a 47-34 lead into halftime. The Skyhawks opened the second half by outscoring NNMC 49-11 in the first 14 minutes.
 
Despite not scoring a point in the first 17 minutes of the game, Joshua Blaylock led FLC with 20 points.  He finished the game making 7-of-12 field goals and 5-of-8 three-point field goals.  He added five rebounds and tied for team high honors with four assists. 
 
Riley Farris and Will Morse each contributed 15 points. Farris pulled down a team high nine rebounds. Morse was perfect from the floor, making all five field goal attempts, all of which came from behind the arc.
 
Ross Buchman came off the bench to make both three-point field goal attempts and 5-of-6 free throws for 11 points.
 
The Skyhawks made 58.5 percent of their field goals and 57.7 percent from downtown.  They edged the Eagles on the boards by one, 41-40. 
 
FLC's defense held NNMC to make only 5-of-35 three-point field goals and force 22 turnovers.
 
The Skyhawks will head to Golden, Colo. to play two neutral site games Nov. 25-26.  FLC will face Dine College on Friday at 1 p.m., and Wayland Baptist on Saturday at 3 p.m.
