ALAMOSA, Colo. – December 13, 2016 – A late comeback by Adams State University nearly broke the Fort Lewis College men's basketball nine game winning streak, but the 18
th-ranked Skyhawks held on for their 10
th straight win of the season. FLC defeated the Grizzlies Tuesday night, 95-91, for their third road win in five days.
"With three rivalry road games in five days and to come out with three wins is a hard thing to do," said head coach
Bob Pietrack. "We are so thankful the road trip is over and excited to play at Whalen Gym Saturday night."
The Skyhawks, who never trailed in the game, led by as many as 17 points in the second half but the Grizzlies cut the lead down to two points with 46 seconds left in regulation
With tonight's win, FLC improves to 10-1 on the season and 5-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. ASU drops to 5-6 on the year and 2-3 in league games.
Joshua Blaylock and
Rasmus Bach led all scorers with 26 points each. Blaylock scored 21 of his 26 points in the second half. He finished the game making 10-of-14 field goals and 5-of-7 from long range to go with his game high five assists. Bach hit 8-of-15 field goal and 8-of-9 free throws.
Daniel Hernandez came off the bench to scored 11 points in 15 minutes of action.
Alex Semadeni and
Brandon Wilson each notched 10 points. Semadeni missed only one of six field goals. He and Wilson each pulled down eight rebounds.
The Skyhawks shot a solid 57.1 percent from the floor after making 36-of-63 field goals, including 10-of-20 three-point field goals.
FLC will play their final game of the calendar year on Saturday against Westminster College. Tip-off at Whalen Gymnasium is at 7:30 p.m.
