Johnson Pitches No-Hitter in Skyhawks Win

FLC Splits Friday’s Games

CANYON, Texas – February 12, 2016 – Senior pitcher Victoria Johnson pitched a no-hitter Friday afternoon to lead the Fort Lewis College softball team to an 8-0, five-inning win over Cameron University at the West Texas A&M University Lady Buffs Invitational.

Johnson and the Skyhawks defense held CU to only 15 at-bats.  Johnson struck out seven batters and the only player to reach base was due to a walk.  Fifty-three of Johnson's 84 pitches were strikes.

The Skyhawks offense exploded for 11 hits and eight runs.  Tristen Gilbert went 2-for-3 at the plate with five runs batted in and one run scored.  One of her two hits was a double that scored three runs.  Missy Fundora, Adriana Rosthenhausler, Angelique Elemen and Lauren Caldwell each joined Gilbert in having a multiple hit game.

In the Skyhawks second game of the day, No. 22 West Texas A&M handed FLC a 25-1 loss.  Six Skyhawks recorded a hit as Nikki Klepfer scored FLC's lone run in the first inning.

The Skyhawks (2-5 overall) will play two games on Saturday against Eastern New Mexico University (9 a.m.) and Texas Woman's University (11:15 a.m.).
