LAS VEGAS, N.M. – February 19, 2016 – A 96-77 win by the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team at New Mexico Highlands University propelled the Skyhawks to the No. 1 seed in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship tournament, and at least a share of the regular season title.
FLC, ranked No. 9 in the NABC Division II poll, improves to 22-3 overall and 17-3 in league games. A win against Western New Mexico University tomorrow night or Adams State University next Friday would give the Skyhawks the title outright.
The Skyhawks RMAC Regular Season Championship is their fifth in school history (2008, 2004, 1989, 1987).
"We picked a good night to have our best game of the year," said head coach
Bob Pietrack. "We played really well tonight. Our team is so hungry and it starts with the seniors. We were just a really focused and hungry team out there and we played really well."
