Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Sarah Meier, Assistant Athletic Director

Skyhawks Rout Mustangs, 97-61

SILVER CITY, N.M. – February 20, 2016 – The Fort Lewis College men's basketball team routed Western New Mexico University Saturday night on the road by 36 points, 97-61.

"I'm just so thrilled for our team for what they've been able to accomplish this season," said head coach Bob Pietrack.  "It's been eight years since we've won an RMAC regular season championship and they're so hard to come by.  I just couldn't be happier for such a great group of young men.  They represent everything that is right with the RMAC and Division II men's basketball.  I'm just blessed to coach them."

The win give the ninth-ranked Skyhawks the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship title outright.  FLC clinched the No. 1 seed and at least a share of the title last night.

Six Skyhawks scored in double figures with Cade Kloster recording a team high 17 points.  Kloster missed only one field goal attempt as he netted 6-of-7 field goals and 3-of-4 from three-point range.  Joshua Blaylock added 14 points and four assists.

Kofi Josephs came off the bench to contribute 13 points.  Nine of his points came from long range.  Will Morse made all five of his free throw attempts and dished out six assists to go with his 12 points.  Jared Smith was perfect from the floor, making all four field goals, including all three three-point field goals.  Kody Salcido rounded out the Skyhawks in double figures with 10 points, while Austin Haldorson pulled down a game high 11 rebounds.  Haldorson added two blocked shots and three assists.

FLC made 54.4 percent from the floor (31-of-57), 50 percent from long range (14-of-28) and 77.8 percent from the charity stripe (21-of-27).

The Skyhawks outrebounded the Mustangs by eight, 43-35.  FLC held the Mustangs to a 31.9 field goal percentage and only 26.3 percent from long range.

Fort Lewis will play host to Adams State University Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in the final regular season game.
