Skyhawks Complete Series at UCCS

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College softball team completed their four game series at University of Colorado Colorado Springs Sunday afternoon.  The Skyhawks lost both games by scores of 6-3 and 10-3.
 
In the morning game, Denae Fisher hit her second home run of the season in the top of the second inning.  Nikki Klepfer then singled to left field to drive home Fisher in the top of the fourth inning for the Skyhawks second run of the game.  Jeovanna Rios recorded her first home run when she hit it over the left field fence in the seventh inning for the Skyhawks third and final run of the game.
 
Missy Fundora and Fisher each posted two hits for the Skyhawks, who finished the game with six hits total. 
 
Three of the Mountain Lions seven hits were home runs.
 
Victoria Johnson was the pitcher of record, pitching a complete game with six strikeouts.
 
In the series finale, Angelique Elemen gave FLC a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a double that scored Fundora.  Klefper recorded another RBI when she singled to left field to score Rios in the fourth inning.  Rios finished the Skyhawks scoring  with a home run to right field in the sixth inning.
 
FLC posted 10 hits in game four.  Fundora, Adriana Rosthenhausler, Rios and Lauren Caldwell each posted two hits. 
 
UCCS accounted for 11 hits, three of which were home runs.
 
The Skyhawks (3-18, 0-8 RMAC) return home to Aspen Field March 5-6 when they play host to Colorado Christian University.
