Skyhawks Win Series Finale at Chadron State, 5-3

CHADRON, Neb. – Olivia Goldberg earned her first win in the circle Sunday afternoon to lead the Fort Lewis College softball team to a 5-3 win at Chadron State College.  The Skyhawks split Sunday's doubleheader after dropping the first game in five innings, 11-0.

Goldberg allowed two earned runs on seven hits and fanned three batters in the complete-game win.

Offensively, the Skyhawks recorded 10 hits with Missy Fundora and Jeovanna Rios each posting three hits.

The Skyhawks started game two with four runs in the first inning.  With no outs and the bases loaded, Angelique Elemen doubled to centerfield to bring home Denae Fisher and Fundora.  Rios reached base on an error by the Eagles pitcher that scored Elemen and Tehenia Telliano.  Rios added the final RBI for the Skyhawks on a single to third base that scored Fundora.

In Sunday's game one, the Skyhawks were held to one hit while allowing 11 runs on 10 hits, including three home runs.

FLC will return home April 9-10 to play host to Western New Mexico University in a four game series.  Saturday's doubleheader will start at 12 p.m., followed by Sunday's doubleheader at 11 a.m.
