Bach Eclipses 1,000 Points; Leads Skyhawks to 83-79 Win at UCCS

COLORADO SPRINGS – January 7, 2017 – Junior guard Rasmus Bach led all scorers with 28 points to lead the No. 20 Fort Lewis College men's basketball team to an 83-79 win at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Saturday night.  The win snaps a two game losing streak by the Skyhawks as they improve to 13-3 overall and 8-2 in league games.  UCCS drops to 5-9 overall and 4-5 in conference games.
 
Bach scored his 1,000 point in the first half to become the 25th member in program history to score at least 1,000 points.
 
The Skyhawks and Mountain Lions were tied at 75-75 with 29.3 seconds left in regulation.  A UCCS personal foul and technical foul led to four straight made free throws by the Skyhawks.  FLC made all eight free throw attempts in the final 29.3 seconds to secure the four point win.
 
Bach hit 10-of-14 field goals and 8-of-9 free throws as part of his 28 points.  He went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe in the last 30 seconds of regulation.
 
Joshua Blaylock recorded 19 points after making 5-of-9 from the floor and 8-of-11 free throws.  Daniel Hernandez came off the bench to post 11 points and Brandon Wilson chipped in 10 points and grabbed a team high six rebounds.
 
The Skyhawks shot 49.2 percent from the floor but were held to a season low three three-point field goals as they made 3-of-15 attempts.
 
FLC out-scored UCCS in the paint (34-26), off of turnovers (12-6), and the Skyhawks bench outscored UCCS, 23-16.
 
After a four game road trip, the Skyhawks will return to Whalen Gymnasium for a four game homestand beginning Jan 13-14 against Black Hills State University and South Dakota School of Mines.
