Brandon Wilson recorded a game high 16 rebounds and added 12 points to lead the No. 23 Fort Lewis College men's basketball team to a 96-66 win over NAIA opponent Johnson & Wales Saturday afternoon at Whalen Gymnasium.
The win improves FLC to 3-1 overall. The Wildcats fall to 0-11 on the season.
Wilson, who had recorded a double-double by halftime with 11 rebounds and 10 points, nearly doubled his season rebound output today. Wilson entered the game with 18 rebounds. Eleven of his 16 rebounds were on the defensive glass. He also dished out a game high seven assists and made 6-of-12 from the floor.
Rasmus Bach was near perfect from the floor, making 9-of-10 field goals for a team high 20 points. He matched Wilson's assists tally with seven.
Marquel Beasley hit 8-of-10 field goals for 17 points and chipped in eight rebounds, two blocks, a steal and an assist.
Nine of the 11 Skyhawks that saw action against the Wildcats scored at least two points.
FLC committed a season low nine turnovers. The Skyhawks, who never trailed against JWU, posted 21 points off of JWU's 13 turnovers.
Fort Lewis finished the game making 40-of-69 field goals for 58 percent and 8-of-18 three-point field goals.
The Wildcats Andrew Romero III led both teams with 23 points.
Fort Lewis will open the conference season Dec. 1 at Colorado State-Pueblo, and Dec. 2 at New Mexico Highlands.
