LAS VEGAS, N.M. – December 2, 2017 –
Riley Farris was perfect in the game Saturday night to lead the No. 19 Fort Lewis College men's basketball team to a 91-79 win at New Mexico Highlands University Saturday night. The win improves FLC to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Farris led all scorers with a career high 31 points after making all 12 field goal attempts, including 4-for-4 from behind the arc, and all three free throw attempts. He also pulled down six rebounds. His 12-for-12 field goal performance ties a school record for best field goal percentage in a game (minimum 10 attempts), tying Kevin Hatch's 11-for-11 field goal mark.
Daniel Hernandez recorded a career 23 points, 14 of which came from the charity stripe as he made all but one of his 15 attempts. Hernandez tallied nine points from long range and dished out two assists.
DJ Miles chipped in 11 points and
Rasmus Bach added nine points, three rebounds and three assists. Bach, the all-time career leader in made three-point field goals, extended his lead to (218) and remains perfect from the charity stripe this season (19-for-19).
The Skyhawks long game was strong as they shot a solid 57.9 percent from behind the arc. FLC made 11-of-19 three-point field goals and finished the contest hitting 29-of-49 field goals for 59.2 percent.
Fort Lewis will return to Whalen Gymnasium Dec. 8-9 when they take on Colorado Mesa University and Western State Colorado University. Both games will tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
