Men's Basketball Falls in Thriller at Colorado Mines, 102-98

GOLDEN, Colo. – March 4, 2017 – For the second straight season, the #21 Fort Lewis College men's basketball team faced off against Colorado School of Mines in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Championship game.  The Skyhawks fell in overtime to the Orediggers, 102-98.

Rasmus Bach and Joshua Blaylock were named to the 2017 RMAC Men's Basketball All-Tournament Team.
 
The end of regulation closed with an 85-85 tie after the Orediggers outscored FLC 6-1 in the final 27 seconds.  Alex Semadeni hit two free throws with 27 ticks left in regulation to give FLC an 84-79 lead.  Two free throws by the Orediggers Gokul Natesan cut the lead to 84-81 with 22 seconds left.  A turnover by the Skyhawks resulted in a layup 10 seconds later, closing the Skyhawks lead to 84-83.
 
Joshua Blaylock made one of two free throws for a two-point Skyhawks advantage.  Mines missed a three-point attempt but grabbed the offensive rebound and was fouled on the put-back.  Ben Clare of CSM tied the game at 85-85 with two seconds remaining to put the game into overtime.
 
FLC was outscored in the extra period, 17-13.
 
Rasmus Bach matched a career high with a game high 29 points.  Bach made 11-of-21 field goals and 4-of-7 from long range. Blaylock added 26 points, seven rebounds and five assists.  Semadeni hit 6-of-8 field goals and all four free throws for 17 points.  He pulled down six rebounds and dished out two assists.  Brandon Wilson grabbed 10 rebounds to go with his nine points and three blocked shots.
 
The Skyhawks shot 49.3 percent from the floor (34-of-69) and 42.3 percent from long range (11-of-26).
 
FLC (25-6) will await their seed into the 2017 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament.  The selection show will take place at 8:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
