RAPID CITY, S.D. – January 13, 2018 – The No. 21 Fort Lewis College men's basketball team held off South Dakota School of Mines Saturday night, 73-68. The win improves FLC to 14-3 overall and 10-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Hardrockers drop to 6-10 overall and 3-8 in the RMAC.
FLC led by as many as 13 points in the first half, but the Hardrockers came within five points in the second half.
Senior guard
Rasmus Bach scored a season high 24 points to lead the Skyhawks. Bach made 10-of-15 from the floor and 3-of-5 from the charity stripe while pulling down seven rebounds and blocking two shots.
Marquel Beasley and
DJ Miles each netted 11 points, combining to make 8-of-14 field goals and 5-of-8 free throws.
Brandon Wilson was one point shy of a double-double, posting 11 rebounds, nine points and two blocked shots.
The Skyhawks hit more than half of their field goal attempts, making 28-of-54 for 51.9 percent. FLC made 13-of-21 free throws for 61.9 percent, and out-rebounded the Hardrockers, 35-28.
South Dakota Mines' Logan Elers tied Bach for the scoring lead with 24 points.
FLC will travel to Regis University and Chadron State College on Jan. 19-20.
