Skyhawks Squeak Past Rangers in Overtime, 85-83

DENVER – January 19, 2018 – Playing in their third overtime game of the season, the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team posted an 85-83 overtime win at Regis University Friday night.  The win improves the Skyhawks to 15-3 overall and 11-2 in league games.
 
In the second half, FLC trailed by 10 (69-59) with 7:38 left in regulation before going on a 10-2 run, capped off by a three-pointer from Marquel Beasley (71-69).  Miles gave the Skyhawks a 76-75 lead on a layup with 29 seconds remaining followed by Marquel Beasley making a free throw to give FLC a two-point cushion at 00:18.
 
In overtime, Alex Semadeni gave the Skyhawks an 83-82 lead they would not relinquish after he put down a dunk with 00:39 left.  Rasmus Bach added two more free throw to help hold off the Rangers.  The Skyhawks scored six of their eight points in the paint.
 
With three seconds left in the game, the Rangers Ty Mcgee drove to the basket and knotted the game at 77-77, sending it to overtime.
 
DJ Miles led FLC with 21 points.  Miles made 9-of-21 field goals and 2-of-6 free throws.  Marquel Beasley chipped in 16 points after hitting 6-of-15 from the floor.  He added 13 rebounds and a blocked shot.
 
Brandon Wilson was the second Skyhawk to post a double-double against the Rangers.  Wilson pulled down 14 rebounds and scored 13 points.  Rasmus Bach added 15 points after making 6-of-12 from the floor.
 
FLC finished the game making 44.7 percent from the floor (34-of-76) but only 1-of-13 from long range (1-of-13).  The Skyhawks made 55.2 percent from the charity stripe, sinking 16 free throws on 29 attempts.
 
Fort Lewis will play at Chadron State College on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
