RAPID CITY, S.D. – January 13, 2018 – Saturday's 73-63 setback at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology marked the first time this season the Fort Lewis College women's basketball team lost back-to-back games. The Skyhawks, ranked No. 13 in Division II, move to 15-3 overall and 9-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Hardrockers improve to 12-5 overall and 7-4 in the RMAC.
FLC led the Hardrockers, 10-8, after the first stanza. However, SDSMT closed out the second quarter on a 14-0 run and took a 30-16 lead into halftime.
The Skyhawks trailed by as many as 11 points in the fourth quarter with 6:30 left in regulation, but closed the gap to three points in the next three minutes, 57-60. SDSMT finished the final 3:24 of the game outscoring FLC, 13-6.
FLC was led by
Vivian Gray's 21-point performance. Gray also added seven rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots.
Astrea Reed contributed 15 points, three steals and a team high nine rebounds.
Alyssa Yocky was the third Skyhawks to score in double figures, netting 14 points to go with her five rebounds.
Taylor Molstad of SDSMT led all scorers with 17 points, and Anna Haugen pulled down a game high 14 rebounds.
Fort Lewis made 24-of-63 from the floor for a 38.1 field goal percent mark, 4-of-17 from long range (23.5 percent), and 11-of-13 from the charity stripe (84.6 percent).
FLC will travel to Regis University and Chadron State College Jan. 19-20.
