DURANGO – January 5, 2018 – Six Fort Lewis College Skyhawks scored at least 10 points Friday night as FLC upended MSU Denver in Whalen Gymnasium, 94-88.
The Skyhawks, ranked No. 20 in Division II, improve to 12-2 overall and 8-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Roadrunners even their record to 7-7 (6-2 RMAC).
The Skyhawks recorded their best shooting performance of the season, making 32-of-53 field goals for 60.4 percent. The Roadrunners were also solid from the floor, making 54.7 percent (29-of-53).
Daniel Hernandez led all players with 24 points. Ten of his points came from the free throw line as he made all but one attempt. Hernandez and
Rasmus Bach dished out a game high five assists. Bach added 21 points after making 6-of-11 from the floor and 8-of-11 from the free throw line.
Marquel Beasley hit 6-of-9 field goals as part of his 13 points.
DJ Miles and
Riley Farris came off the bench to score 11 points each. The duo combined to make 9-of-14 attempts. Center
Brandon Wilson registered 10 points. Wilson hit 3-of-5 field goals and 4-of-5 free throws.
Friday's win was the Skyhawks 18
th all-time win over the Roadrunners, and eighth win in Whalen Gymnasium.
Fort Lewis will close out their five game home stand Saturday night against UCCS. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
