DURANGO – January 6, 2018 –
Marquel Beasley scored a career high 33 points Saturday night to lead No. 20 Fort Lewis College to an 85-76 win at home against University of Colorado Colorado Springs. FLC improves to 13-2 overall and 9-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Beasley made 11-of-16 field goals and 10-of-13 free throws, while pulling down 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.
The Mountain Lions jumped to a 14-2 lead less than four minutes into the game after the Skyhawks received two technical fouls. FLC went on a 17-5 run to tie the game at 19-19 in the first half.
Before grabbing their largest lead of the game (nine points) with 15 seconds left in regulation, the Skyhawks led 78-70 with two minutes and 30 seconds remaining. UCCS came within two points, 78-70 at 1:48, but
Rasmus Bach scored five the Skyhawks next seven points as FLC closed out the game on a 7-0 run.
Bach finished the game with 13 points and four rebounds.
DJ Miles came off the bench to chip in 10 points and grab three rebounds.
The Skyhawks scored 34 points in the paint and 26 points off of the Mountain Lions 19 turnovers.
UCCS was led by Elijah Ross' 20 points, and Padient Wang's 19 points.
After playing eight of their last nine games at home, including their last five consecutive games, FLC will start a four game road trip Jan. 12-13 at Black Hills State and South Dakota Mines.
