SALT LAKE CITY/ST. GEORGE, Utah – A four-game road trip will open for the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team this weekend as they will travel to Utah to face Westminster on Friday at 4 p.m. and then against Dixie State on Sunday starting at noon.
FLC enters the weekend 4-6-1 overall and 3-4 in the RMAC. This past weekend, the Skyhawks came close to a win against MSU Denver, pushing the Roadrunners to overtime before falling just short, 1-0. On the season, FLC has scored 13 goals and allowed 17, they've taken 116 shots, with 53 on net, while opponents have 169 shots, with 71 on net.
Renee Terrell, Britney Johnson and Emma Patron all lead the team in points with six. Terrell and Johnson are tied for the team lead in goals with three apiece. Courtney Wamboldt, Katie Smith and Dylan Barker add four points, with Smith and Barker tallying two goals and Wamboldt with a goal and two assists. Smith has logged the most minutes this season with 1,011, followed by 981 from Megan Trent and 929 from Charlie Kaiser. In net, Britt Blomso is 4-2-1, having played 675 minutes and holds a 1.20 goals against average, 28 saves and a .757 save percentage. Kaylee Mickens has played in six games this season and she has a 2.12 goals against average with 26 saves and a .765 save percentage.
On the season, FLC ranks high in several RMAC categories including fourth in saves per game (4.91), sixth in shutout percentage (.273), eighth in assists per game (0.91), goals against average (1.506) and total assists (10). Individually, Patron is fourth in the RMAC in assists per game (0.36) and also fourth and 94th nationally in total assists (4). Blomso is seventh in the RMAC in goals against average (1.198) and is 12th in total saves (28). Mickens is 13th in total saves (26).
Entering this weekend around the RMAC, Colorado School of Mines and UC-Colorado Springs are tied for the lead at 8-0. MSU Denver is third at 6-2, Westminster is fourth at 5-2, Regis is fifth at 5-3, CSU-Pueblo is sixth at 4-3, Colorado Christian is seventh at 4-4, Fort Lewis is eighth at 3-4, Colorado Mesa is ninth at 2-4-1, Dixie State and Western State are tied for 10th at 2-5, Adams State and New Mexico Highlands are tied for 12th at 1-6 and Black Hills State is 14th at 0-7-1.
First up for FLC will be a matchup with Westminster. The teams played late in the season a year ago and the Griffins claimed a 3-1 victory in Durango. Patron recorded the goal for the Skyhawks. Westminster held a 18-10 advantage on shots, but just a 7-6 edge on goal. Back in 2016, the teams played in Salt Lake City with Westminster taking that game by a 2-1 score. Alicia Sanchez tallied the goal in the game for the Skyhawks.
The Griffins are 8-3 overall and 5-2 in RMAC play, they currently hold a 4-1 record at home, with the only loss being a 1-0 decision to UC-Colorado Springs. This past weekend they traveled to Denver and lost 1-0 to Colorado School of Mines and then defeated Colorado Christian 1-0. Westminster has tallied 19 goals this season, to 10 for opponents. They've taken 162 shots, with 78 on goal, while opponents have 108 total shots, with 55 on net. Emma Heyn leads the team in points with 10, tallying four goals and a pair of assists. Aimee Kurfurst has eight points on four goals. Libby Dearden and Allie Millerberg add six points apiece, with Dearden scoring three goals and Millerberg with two goals and two assists. Hillary Weixler has logged 1,030 minutes, followed by McKell Kellogg and Micah Frederick tied at 1,023 minutes each. In goal, Weixler has started all 11 games and has a 0.87 goals against average, 45 saves and a .818 save percentage.
To close the trip, FLC will travel down south to St. George to face Dixie State on Sunday at noon. It will be the first meeting between the teams since 2007 when FLC won in St. George, 1-0.
The TrailBlazers are 6-5 overall and 2-5 in RMAC play. They've only played two games at home this season, defeating MSU Denver, 1-0, and falling to UC-Colorado Springs, 2-1. This past weekend they fell on the road to Colorado Christian, 2-0, and Colorado School of Mines, 1-0. On the season, Dixie State has scored 12 goals and allowed seven. They've taken 128 shots, with 61 landing on net, to the opposition that has taken 96 shots, with 36 on goal. Whitley Johns leads the team with nine points, scoring four goals and one assist. Kelsey Cook adds seven points with three goals and an assist, while Ambree Bennett has six points, all on three goals. In net, Felicity Tarr has played in 10 games, logging 763 minutes. She has a 0.83 goals against average, 23 saves and a .767 save percentage. Nicole Rahman has seen action in six games, logging 226 minutes. She has six saves and has yet to allow a goal this year.
