Schmidt Inks With Women’s Soccer From Lone Star State

DURANGO, Colo. – Camryn Schmidt will relocate from Round Rock, Texas to Durango to play for the Fort Lewis College women's soccer program.

"Camryn is a player that we started recruiting while still at Midwestern State.  So, we are very familiar with her and her consistency.  She is a strong athlete, with a great drive to compete, and she is a well-balanced midfield player," Head Coach Damian Clarke said.

The 5-foot-5 defender/midfielder was part of some great teams at Round Rock High School as the Dragons competed for several regional and state titles during her career. This past season, the team earned District Champion honors and were a Regional Finalist. She also played on the Teas Premier League club team the Austin Texans, taking home the South Texas State Championship in 2017-18. This past year, the team reached the Southern Regional Quarterfinals of the National League in 2018-19. She's also excelled in the classroom earning Academic All-District all four years. Schmidt plans to major in biology at Fort Lewis College.

This past season, Schmidt helped anchor a back row that collected 12 clean sheets and allowed more than one goal in just one match. The Dragons ended up going 15-2-3 in 2018.
