DURANGO, Colo. – February 24, 2018 – Junior forward
Alex Semadeni came off the bench to score 17 points after making 6-of-7 field goals, including two from downtown, and all three free throw attempts as the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team defeated Westminster College on Saturday in Whalen Gymnasium, 75-67.
Tonight's win earned the Skyhawks the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular season championship. Both teams were tied at 17-4 in league games entering tonight's matchup.
The regular season championship is the sixth in program history (2018, 2016, 2008, 2005, 1989 and 1987).
Semadeni's 17 points led all Skyhawks scorers.
Rasmus Bach and
Marquel Beasley each chipped in 13 points.
Brandon Wilson finished with a double-double after recording 11 rebounds and 10 points.
FLC out-scored WC in the paint, 26-14, and off of turnovers, 19-4.
The Skyhawks will host a quarterfinal game on Tuesday, Feb. 27 against the No. 8 seed at 7 p.m.
