DENVER – March 10, 2018 – Metropolitan State University, Denver shut out the Fort Lewis College softball team Saturday afternoon at the Regency Athletic Complex in downtown Denver. The Skyhawks fell in the series opener, 5-0, and were held hitless in game two, 8-0 (five innings).
The Roadrunners took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the series opener before adding two more runs in the fifth inning and the final run in the sixth inning.
FLC tallied four hits in game one.
Tristen Gilbert went 2-for-3 at the plate.
Lauren Caldwell and
Pilar Gutierrez each went 1-for-2 to account for the Skyhawks four hits.
Kendra Keahbone pitched six innings in the circle, allowing three earned runs on nine hits and striking out two batters.
In Saturday's game two, the Roadrunners (8-14, 5-5 RMAC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning. MSU Denver added two runs each in the third and fifth innings while holding the Skyhawks (7-17, 1-9 RMAC) hitless and scoreless.
Kassidy Trumbo pitched all four innings for FLC, surrendering seven earned runs and 10 hits.
Both teams will be back in action Sunday for two more games beginning at 11 a.m.
