Women’s Soccer Puts on Offensive Barrage in Win Over Yellow Jackets

DURANGO, Colo. – Backed by a 29 shot effort and 12 on goal, the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team dominated throughout their game against Black Hills State University in taking the 3-0 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory on Friday afternoon at Dirks Field.

FLC (2-2-1, 1-0 RMAC) put 12 shots up in the first half and then added even more pressure in the second half with 17 more. On the flip side, the Skyhawk defense kept BHSU (0-6, 0-1 RMAC) to just five shots, with one landing on goal.

Although FLC had a lot of shots, BHSU kept the game scoreless until late in the first half. Following three straight shots and a pair of corner kicks, Katie Smith was able to header in a corner from Emma Patron for her first goal of the season to give FLC a 1-0 lead at the 35:27 mark.

The Skyhawks kept the momentum right into the second half, as over the first 10 minutes FLC took five shots before the sixth shot from Dylan Barker found the back of the net for the 2-0 lead. Addie DiMarco added the assist on the goal on her first goal of the season that was scored at the 57:46 mark.

It wouldn't take long for the lead to expand to three as at the 65:14 mark, Patron got loose for a shot about 30 yards out that curled perfectly into the goal. Maddy Duran helped setup her first goal of the season.

FLC had 10-1 in corner kicks and had 11 fouls to seven for BHSU.

Smith and Payton Balduini paced the offense with four shots apiece. Barker and Chloe Chapman added three apiece, while Courtney Wamboldt and Ally Holloway added two each.

Rose Miller paced BHSU with three shots. In net, Zoe Baldwin went all 90 minutes for the Yellow Jackets and made nine saves. Britt Blomso got the win for FLC making a save and playing 65:43. Kaylee Mickens went the final 24:17.

FLC will remain at home this coming Sunday when they will host Regis starting at 1 p.m. at Dirks Field. The Rangers bested Adams State, 3-2, earlier today.
