Iyekekpolor, Begay Named Student-Athletes of the Week

Senior Otas Iyekekpolor and sophomore Tanisha Begay were named student-athletes of the week.

Iyekekpolor paced the team in nearly every category this past weekend as he went for a career-high 23 points and made it a double-double with 12 rebounds in the win over Colorado Mesa. He went 9-13 from the field, added a three-pointer and both an assist and a steal against the Mavericks. Against Western Colorado, Iyekekpolor posted nine points and three rebounds, while sending back a block and two steals. For the week he averaged 16 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and shot 55 percent from the field and 89 percent from the foul line.

Begay scored a career-high 19 points at Colorado Mesa, going 6-12 from the field, 5-10 from three and three rebounds. In the win against Western Colorado she added six points going 2-4 all from three, five rebounds, six assists and two steals. For the week she averaged 12.5 points, four rebounds, three assists, 2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio and shot 50 percent from the field and from three.
