GOODYEAR, Ariz. –
Summer Vigil continues to put together strong performances as she followed up her first round 71 with a final round 72 Saturday to tie for first with a 143 at the Mustang Intercollegiate. As a team, the Fort Lewis College women's golf team placed 19th at the par 72, 6,005-yard Palm Valley Golf Club course. The 143 breaks Vigil's previous program mark of 149 she set back in the fall.

"Honestly, I did not realize I broke my own record, it was the last thing on my mind for sure," Vigil said. "Being able to put up the scores I did was a huge milestone for me. I played with some of the top girls in the field these past two days and being tied for first with some of them just makes me proud. I am happy with how I played and I hope to do it again at the RMAC Championships."

The tie for first by Vigil is the best finish in program history since Jessica Thulson won the NWOSU Invitational during the 2015-16 season. Vigil finished strong as she sunk two birdies over the final three holes and in total, had four birdies and 11 pars on the day. Overall for the tournament, Vigil was near the top of the field in par-three scoring at 3.00 and in par-four scoring at 4.15, while tying for the lead in the field in par-five at 4.50. She added 22 pars and was one of the top spot in birdies with eight.

No. 6 West Texas A&M moved up from the second spot to win the 23-team tournament with a 583, three-strokes ahead of No. 43 CSU-Pueblo. In total, 10 teams were ranked in the tournament. Fort Lewis compiled rounds of 312 and 318 for a 630 to land in 19th, just two-shots back on No. 38 Tarleton State and four back of MSU Denver in 17th.

Individually, Vigil tied with four other golfers for first as West Texas A&M's Jelina Fernando, Oklahoma Christian's Abigail Rigsby, West Texas A&M's Holly Winter and Dixie State's Katie Ford all fired 143's to tie for first as well. Rigsby ended up winning in a playoff hole sinking a birdie during the first hole to claim the win.

Isabella Martinez fired rounds of 76 and 79 to tie for 49th with a 155. She tallied two birdies on holes five and 14, along with adding seven pars. Sophie Schwartz and Emilia Manntz each fired 166's to tie for 99th. Schwartz shot the same rounds of 83 each day and sunk a birdie on hole five during the final round. Manntz had rounds of 82 and 84 for her 166 as she compiled eight pars on Saturday. Rounding out the five for the Skyhawks was Kara Tschirhart who fired scores of 85 and 89 for a 174 to tie for 108th. She had five pars during the final round. Judith Camacho also competed as an individual and tied for 108th with rounds of 88 and 86 for a 174.

As a team, FLC averaged 3.55 on par-three, 4.49 on par-four and 5.33 on par-five. They also added 81 pars and 16 birdies. Vigil led the Skyhawks in all the par scoring averages, as well as in pars and birdies.
