FLC Athletics to allow limited fans for outdoor sporting events during spring semester

2/24/2021 11:25:00 AM

DURANGO, Colorado — The Fort Lewis College Department of Athletics is pleased to announce it will be able to welcome fans back to campus for outdoor sporting events during the spring 2021 semester, starting with this weekend's home softball series against Colorado Christian University.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) moved La Plata County to Level Yellow on the state's Covid-19 Dial on Feb. 12, which allows up to 175 people to attend outdoor events.

Fort Lewis College will still require a mask to be worn at all times on campus, while encouraging those who are not feeling well or are displaying Covid-19 symptoms to remain home.

"We are so excited to finally host fans at our home outdoor contests and provide our student-athletes a normal collegiate experience. In conjunction with our local health authority, we feel confident about the transmission rates when outdoors due to the fresh air constantly moving, dispersing respiratory droplets and people less likely to breathe in enough of the respiratory droplets containing the virus that causes COVID-19 to become infected," said FLC Director of Athletics, Brandon Leimbach. "With that said, it's important for spectators, players and coaches to keep social distance. Wear a mask, use hand sanitizer and ensure you have enough social distance — at least 6 feet — between you and other spectators, whether you're standing, sitting in chairs or sharing bleachers."

Available tickets to FLC outdoor athletic events are to be sold on a first come, first serve basis for general admission.

Starting this year, FLC Athletics is offering an online payment option through Primo Ticketing. Walk-up ticket sales will also be available to fans while supplies last.

General admission tickets are $10 per person, while Senior Citizen and Kids Tickets (13-17 years old) are available for $5 per person. Children under the age of 12 are admitted for free.

FLC Athletics will continue to monitor the current on-campus fan policy as the semester progresses in accordance with state and local health guidelines.
