DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College Department of Athletics is excited to announce, thanks to the generosity from dozens of Skyhawks supporters, the department raised $110,000 in 24 hours during yesterday's annual Giving Tuesday campaign.

Tuesday marked the fourth year in a row Fort Lewis College and FLC Athletics have participated in the Global Day of Giving, which was created in 2012 and takes place the Tuesday following Thanksgiving.

Over 200 gifts were made department-wide on Tuesday, either through sport-specific giving, donations to the Skyhawks Club General Fund, or toward facility upgrades that directly benefit FLC student-athletes.

For the third year in a row, FLC Athletics Hall of Famer and 1965 alumnus Chuck Lamb got the Skyhawks off to a tremendous start, pledging a $10,000 matching gift to the Skyhawks Club. Additionally, athletics saw six athletics-specific challenges met throughout the 24-hour period.

Travis Whipple, Director of Athletics:

"Thank you for your continued involvement with our department and for making an impact during FLC Giving Tuesday. Collectively, more than 400 individuals donated, which is a record by 30%. This led to $110,000 of support for athletics during the 24-hour period. What a great day to be a Skyhawk. Your generosity will enhance the student-athlete experience and allow us to achieve our mission of graduating champions. We strive to make you proud in the classroom, in the community, and in competition as we build a premier program of excellence. Thank you for all that you do, and go Skyhawks!"

In addition to the athletics-specific giving, the campaign was a success for Fort Lewis College as a whole. With six hours left to give, there has been more than $425,000 raised by 416 donors.
