Skyhawks Compete at UNM Spring Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Fort Lewis College men's and women's track teams traveled on Thursday to compete in the New Mexico Spring Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico.

The men's team had four athletes competing in the 1500m race, led by Max Robinson who came in sixth place with a time of 4:18.08. Braedon Sittman followed with a time of 4:26.43 for a seventh-place finish. A quartet of Skyhawks toed the line for the 800m run, led this time by a fifth-place finish from Brady Burrough (1:59.58).

Aaron Busche represented the team in the 400m dash, coming in fourth place with a time of 53.61. The 200m dash had a pair of Skyhawks crossing the finish line, paced by Travis Kearney 's fourth-place day (24.53). Busche finished in fifth at 24.70. The team also fielded a 4x400m relay squad that clocked a 4:14.04 finish.

For the women, it was Angel Curley who led the way in the 1500m, notching a ninth-place finish with a time of 4:54.81. Carmella Wright (5:06.45) and Esther Beck (5:09.40) followed in 11^th and 12^th place, respectively. Katie Fankhouser and Saylor Sargent led the team in the 400m, clocking times of 1:01.05 and 1:01.19 for seventh and eighth-place finishes.

Curley had another notable race in the 800m run, coming in sixth-place with a time of 2:26.75. The 400m hurdles were represented by Krista Benze who came in fifth-place at 1:06.84. Fankhouser capped off her outing with a 10^th place mark in the 200m dash (27.44). The Skyhawks competed in the 4x400m relay, coming in fourth-place at 4:29.05.

The Skyhawks are back in action for a two-day event at the Maverick Open in Grand Junction, starting on Friday, April 15.
