Last Time Out
Fort Lewis is coming off of a 1-1 opening weekend down in Portales, N.M., at the South-Central Regional Crossover. The Skyhawks opened the season against 19th-ranked Angelo State University (1-1), but an early 14-point lead for the Rams proved too tall a task as Brayden Carter and Obi Agbim led the Skyhawks with 14 and 12 points, respectively. FLC and ENMU met in the finale of the season-opening event and the Skyhawks handed the Greyhounds an 82-62 loss on the back of an 11-point, 15-rebound double-double from Carter and a 49-point second half for Fort Lewis.

Scouting Western New Mexico
The Mustangs from Silver City, N.M., find themselves at 0-2 to start the season after dropping both games to Westminster University (1-1) 75-69 and Adams State (2-0) 78-73. Cortaviaus Seales was the lead man in the season opener against the Griffins as the six-foot-one junior went off for 26 points and two rebounds.

Against the Grizzlies, however, it was LaMarqus Merchant Jr. who carried the Mustangs with a 24-point, six-assist, and three-rebound outing. As a unit, Western New Mexico is shooting on clips of .381/.319/.756 while grabbing 33.5 rebounds per game and surrendering just 10.5 turnovers per game.

Scouting Eastern New Mexico
While Eastern New Mexico couldn't keep up with the Skyhawks in the first go-around, the Greyhounds proved plenty capable as they out-ran New Mexico Highlands (1-1) in the season opener to a 102-75 score. Five Greyhounds finished in double-figures in the contest including a 22-point debut from Mario Whitley and a 21-point performance from Greg Johnson.

ENMU is shooting .455 as a team from the field and a strong .486 from the three-point line. The Greyhounds, although averaging 33 rebounds as a unit while being beaten by an average of 10 boards per game, are posting 17 assists per game with only 11 turnovers. In game one with FLC, three players managed to produce double-digit scoring efforts but 11 points from Johnson was the most allowed by any one player.

Looking Ahead
The Skyhawks have a restful two weeks ahead of them with only one home game slated against Northern New Mexico College (1-5) on Monday, Nov. 27, at 7:00 p.m. in Whalen Gymnasium. The conference schedule will then kick off on Saturday, Dec. 2, with a 5:00 p.m. high-altitude showdown at Western Colorado University (1-1).
