Following History
Last season, the Skyhawks set a plethora of program records including total wins (29), regular season wins (25), and a road record of 10-1 en route to capturing the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships. FLC ran with its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2017-18, reaching the round of 32 before falling to Black Hills State University 81-66. Ending the season ranked seventh and fifth across the National Association of Basketball Coaches and Division II College Sports Communicators Top 25 Polls, Fort Lewis enters this year ranked 15th by the NABC and second in the RMAC Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll.

A New Look
FLC graduated all five starters last season but returns three championship talents in Sekou Dembele, 2022-23 All-RMAC Honorable Mention Obi Agbim, and 2023 RMAC All-Tournament Team honoree Junior Garbrah. In addition, the Skyhawks brought in two well-seasoned RMAC veterans: Brayden Carter and Isaiah Thompson. Fort Lewis wasn't done, however, as head coach Bob Pietrack sought to bolster his roster even stronger than season's past with a Division I Power Five transfer in Amondo Miller Jr., a BOXTOROW Second-Team All-American in Samier Kinsler, a Second-Team All-Mountain East Conference honoree in Malik Whitaker, and Jhei-R Jones who led all of the National Junior College Athletic Association with a 49.6% clip from the three-point line last season.

Scouting the No. 19 Rams
Last season, Angelo State finished second in the LSC with a 26-7 overall record and a 19-3 conference mark. ASU notched a second-place finish in the LSC Tournament and also fell in the round of 32 at the NCAA Tournament's South-Central Regional. Fort Lewis is all tied up with Angelo State 3-3 in the all-time series after defeating the Rams last season, 79-70.

Kevin Godwin, named the 2023-24 LSC Preseason Player of the Year and a Second-Team All-Region honoree last season, returns to guide the Rams once again. Boasting clips of 45.7% from the field and 40.0% from beyond the arc, Godwin averaged 16.9 points last season while providing 72 assists and 39 steals. As a unit, Angelo State posted 72.4 points per game while limiting opponents to 65.3 points alongside 8.2 steals per game.

Scouting the Greyhounds
Heading into Saturday's game, Fort Lewis owns a 14-8 record over Eastern New Mexico. The Greyhounds finished last season with a 17-12 overall record while posting a 12-10 record through LSC play. In last year's season opener, Fort Lewis escaped ENMU by a narrow 84-81 score thanks to a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Brenden Boatwright.

The Greyhounds return each of its top two offensive threats from last season in Jahcoree Ealy and Greg Johnson. Ealy led the pair with 12.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game to Johnson's 11.8 and 3.2 respectively, earning Ealy All-LSC Second-Team honors. Eastern New Mexico posted 74.0 points per game, primarily inside the perimeter as the Greyhounds shot a combined 45.5% from the floor compared to 30.6% from beyond the arc. Additionally, ENMU led the LSC with 36.8 rebounds per game.
