Hjalmarrson’s second half equalizer forces draw with Yellow Jackets

BURNABY, B.C. – The high-octane Fort Lewis College offense could only find the back of the net once as the Montana State University Billings defense struck early and held on to force a 1-1 split against the Skyhawks on a brisk Saturday night at Simon Fraser University.

Fort Lewis finishes its non-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference member schedule 2-2-1 overall. MSU Billings also breaks even for the first time this season moving to 3-2-1.

Skyhawks had control from the get-go and led the Yellow Jackets in total shots and shots on goal across the contest.

In the 11th minute, FLC played the ball back into its own half in hopes of rotating around the MSUB offense. A timely challenge by the Yellow Jackets forced a beneficial bounce, and Ty Vohland cashed in with a strike to the left side of the net.

It took all of 70 minutes before FLC found its equalizer. Ciaran Feeney, who rushed in to meet the set piece at the top of the box, sent the ball toward the goal through five Yellow Jacket defenders for Anton Hjalmarsson to chip in.

Notables
-Hjalmarsson joins Emmett Layman in second on the Skyhawks roster with two goals this season.
-Feeney's assist is the second of his career and first since 2021.
