Skyhawks host Nick Turner Invitational up at Hillcrest

DURANGO, Colo. – Collegiate golf makes its long-awaited return to Durango this week as the Fort Lewis women's golf team hosts its annual Nick Turner Invitational up on the rim at Hillcrest Golf Course this Monday and Tuesday.

The Skyhawks will look to use the comforts of home this week to improve on last week's ninth-place finish at the CSU Pueblo Fall Invitational at the Pueblo Country Club. While FLC was in ninth of eleven teams after round one, the squad managed to cut down 18 strokes and climb two spots on the team leaderboard in round two.

While all eight members of the Fort Lewis women's golf team will compete, only Dimery Plewe, who led the team at CSUP with a 12^th-place finish on a 154 (+10), Vivianna Holguin, Isabel Bustillos, Peyton Gibby, and Sarah Grenemyer can contribute to FLC's team score.

The tournament will feature programs such as Westminster, Garden City Community College, Otero College, New Mexico Junior College, Lubbock Christian, and Adams State.

Hillcrest Golf Club, established in 1954, sits atop a scenic mesa overlooking the historic and quaint western town of Durango. Hillcrest offers magnificent views of the La Plata Mountains and the Animas River Valley nestled in the Southern Colorado Rockies. The course stretches as far as 6,727 yards from the black tees with a par of 71, a course rating of 71.4, and a slope of 133.

The action starts at noon on Monday with Tuesday's round slated for a 10 a.m. start.

Winter Break
The Nick Turner Invitational marks the final tournament of the Skyhawks fall campaign. Following the tournament, Fort Lewis will turn its attention to its 2025 spring and championship season.
