Women’s golf picked seventh in RMAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College women's golf team has been picked to finish seventh among the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's ten total teams in the 2026-27 Women's Golf Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Fort Lewis sits tied with South Dakota Mines at 35 points, ahead of ninth-place Black Hills State University (18 pts) and tenth-place Adams State University (11 pts). Colorado State University Pueblo was picked to take the RMAC crown, garnering four first-place and five second-place votes for 76 points. Westminster University (74 pts) was picked second, followed by Colorado Christian University (63 pts) in third, Colorado Mesa University (60 pts) in fourth, Metropolitan State University of Denver (41 pts) in fifth, and Chadron State College (37 pts) in sixth.

Last season, the Skyhawks fought to a fifth-place finish at the 2025-26 RMAC Women's Golf Championships (Apr. 19-21) at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev., carding a 777 (+57) team score through 54 holes before unplayable conditions cut the event short. Returning junior Peyton Gibby paced the team, finishing T-8 individually on the strength of a nine-over-par 189.

In addition to Gibby, the Skyhawks return seniors Isabel Bustillos and Annika Gutierrez, as well as sophomores Kathryn Moores and Ellie White. Three freshmen will make their collegiate debuts in 2026-27, including Abigail Gryzynger, Paola Guerrero, and Eleanor Pilgrim.

Fort Lewis kicks off the 2026-27 season on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 14-15, with a return to the familiar Ruidoso Junior Golf Association Shootout at Estrella at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.
